DIY: Bilingual Animal names and How to play it

Materials required:

  • Laminator (optional)
  • Coloured cards (optional)
  • Plain paper
  • Printer
  • Scissors

Note: If you are planning to print it on plain paper I recommend you laminate it but if you have decided to use coloured cards make sure the colour of the card is light.

Instruction:

  • Print the words on paper of your choice.
  • Cut around the dash border using scissors.
  • Laminate the name cards.
  • Finally cut the laminated name cards.

Tips on storing:

Animal name cards can be stored in a zip lock bag or in a small plastic snack container. Those are great for storing small items.

Ways to play the game:

  • Snap

You will need two set of bilingual name cards. Take turn to place name facing up. Who ever gets same and puts their hand on the stack first gets to keep the names. The player who has the the most wins.

  • Memory game

You will also need two sets for this. Place the cards name facing downwards. Each player gets to turn over 2 cards per go. If it matches keep it turned the right way round if not turn it over so the writing is faced down.

  • Matching game

If you have toy animals why not try playing matching games with animal figures and bilingual names.

These are some of the ways you can play with bilingual name cards if you have any suggestions feel free to share below. Keep it fun and simple.

Happy learning!

cow(My son decided to make his own farmyard and used the names as labels. What a brilliant idea!)
